The program focuses on families who live and qualify with in the public housing authority and are automatically SNAP-Ed. Eligible. The primary focus is on grades K-6th with supplemental education for parents and caregivers of the children. Education occurs at the Community Centers at the public housing authorities. There are 10 scheduled lessons which include pre-tests, lessons, and post tests. Since public housing is underserved this program helps disseminate and overcome the myth of housing authority community stereotypes. It encourages the break from poverty cycle and focused on empowering the youth with healthy eating behaviors. It is an experienced based program which encourages children to take a role in forming their future.
